News: Freeview Plus adds newspaper promotions

Free-to-air digital TV platform Freeview has launched a promotional campaign highlighting how its recording functions are ideal for people going on holiday.

It has formed a partnership with News International to run a range of promotions across the group’s titles, The Sun, The Times, The Sunday Times and News of the World, reaching a potential audience of 25 million.

The campaign, which has been put together by partnership agency Cocktail Marketing, focuses on Freeview Plus, which offers digital recording features including series record. Freeview Plus has put the subscription-free service in competition with Sky Plus

Rob Farmer, director of marketing communications at Freeview, said: “Freeview Plus ensures you don’t miss your favourite programmes while you’re on holiday but, unlike others, it doesn’t come with any subscription or contract. So you’re free from all the fuss and saving hundreds of pounds that can go on holidays instead.”
